9 Luxurious Reasons for an Adults-Only Vacation to Aulani: Disney Magic in Hawaiian Paradise
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, offers a perfect blend of Disney enchantment and Hawaiian beauty, making it the perfect vacation spot to relax, reconnect, and feel like you’ve truly gotten away for a while.
There’s so much to do on the island of O’ahu! You can easily fill your vacation with adventure and exploration with Aulani as your home base.
Plus, the resort itself has so much to offer you’ll definitely want to plan a few days to take it all in.
With 6 Aulani vacations under our belts, we’ve done both types of trips. Our most recent visit to Aulani was in late October / early November 2024 and we stayed at the resort the whole time. It was heaven!
Here’s nine reasons why you should take an adults-only vacation to this tropical paradise.
1. Respect for Hawaiian Art and Culture
Aulani boasts an impressive collection of Hawaiian art, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the islands. As you explore the resort, you'll encounter stunning pieces that tell the story of Hawaii's history and traditions.
Cast members are happy to tell you more about any of the art that catches your eye and free tours that go into more detail are also available. It’s the perfect way to appreciate how much love and care Imagineers put into creating an immersive environment that honors Hawaiian culture.
2. Unparalleled Disney Hospitality
The resort's staff embodies the spirit of "Aloha," providing exceptional service that combines Disney's legendary hospitality with Hawaiian warmth.
From the moment you arrive and are handed refreshing pineapple infused water, you'll feel welcome and cared for. Every cast member we’ve interacted with was friendly, helpful, and offered outstanding service. There’s no better feeling that being greeted with “Aloha, family!” throughout the day.
3. Just Enough Character Sightings
While Aulani isn't overrun with Disney characters, you’ll still enjoy surprise meetings with beloved icons like Stitch, Angel, Minnie Mouse and others.
These brief encounters are fun and let you know you are at a Disney resort.
4. Stunning Architecture and Setting
Aulani's design seamlessly blends Hawaiian-inspired architecture with modern luxury. Designed to blend into the landscape and complement the environment, Aulani looks like it belongs on the island.
The resort is gorgeous day and night. Especially one of my favorite times – the early morning hours before sunrise. It’s a perfect time to take a stroll if you’re awake due to time zone differences.
5. Food for Every Mood
There are dining options for every taste and mood, including quick service, table service, character dining and upscale fine dining.
One of our favorite spots is the ‘Ōlelo Room, an indoor/outdoor lounge inspired by the Hawaiian language. Wooden carvings with labels that convey their Hawaiian names adorn the indoor area and cast members are happy to help you pronounce them like a pro.
6. Indulge at the Award-Winning Laniwai Spa
Treat yourself to ultimate relaxation at the Laniwai Spa. Arrive 1 hour prior to your treatment and enjoy unique experiences like the outdoor hydrotherapy garden and the heavenly relaxation room inside the locker rooms.
Afterward, you can continue to relax outside as long as you like. Plan on at least 3 hours at the spa. It’s my number one must do while at Aulani!
7. Relax in Two Adults-Only Areas
Escape to the tranquil adults-only infinity-edge hot tub, where you can soak in warm waters while enjoying panoramic ocean views. It's the perfect spot for quiet relaxation, sunset watching, or an evening soak as you wind down from your day.
The Wailana Pool is another peaceful spot to lounge and relax. With a walk-up bar nearby and poolside service offering food and beverages right to your lounge chair, you’ll want to hang out here for hours!
While most people think Disney resorts and vacations are for families traveling with children, this area for adults ages 18 and over is highly sought after. Lounge chairs are often completely full from late morning though mid-to late afternoon. Arrive by 11am to ensure you get a spot.
8. Float Away on the Lazy River or in the Ko Olina Lagoon
Waikolohe Stream, the resort's lazy river, meanders through lush tropical landscapes, small water fountains, and a cave of waterfalls. You can drop on in from the Tubestone Curl Waterslide or one of three other entry points. It's a must-do during your vacation.
Cathy’s pro tip: for a quieter float, get your pool wristband the evening before and glide into the river right at 8am when it opens.
The resort's beach offers a sheltered lagoon ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or simply lounging on the sand. Enjoy water activities or take a leisurely stroll along the shore. Guests are welcome to bring their own water toys and floats into the lagoon. These are not allowed in the resort pools, however.
9. Stellar Hawaiian Sunsets
Cap off each day watching gorgeous Hawaiian sunsets.
Whether from your balcony, the beach, or one of the resort's viewing spots, these magical moments will create memories that last a lifetime.
One of our favorite spots is the lounge chairs in front of ‘AMA‘AMA restaurant.
